Frequently Asked Questions
What is the parent’s role in homeschooling?
Parents bear the ultimate responsibility for the education of their child and the establishment of their homeschool program. Parents are responsible for teaching and ensuring the completion of homeschool assignments on Thursdays and Fridays at home. Parents are also required to meet regulations stipulated by their county’s school district, such as annual testing or evaluations.
What is the tutor’s role?
Tutors partner with parents by teaching the homeschool curriculum in a classroom environment on Monday – Wednesday. Tutors send students home with assignments to be completed at home on Thursdays and Fridays under the instruction of a parent.
Are the tutor’s certified teachers?
Although certification is not required, many of our tutors do hold a teaching certificate.
What is the student’s responsibility?
Students are required to complete their homeschool assignments on Thursdays and Fridays and be prepared to move forward in the curriculum with their class the following week.
What do parents do with their students on Thursdays and Fridays?
At the end of each co-op week, tutors will give parents the lesson plans to be completed at home with their child on Thursdays and Fridays. Parents are directed by the curriculum and/or teacher’s manuals on how to guide their child through the assignments. We also encourage you to use this time to dive deeper into the material covered during the week at co-op, to teach additional subjects not covered at co-op, and to explore areas of interest with your child that inspire curiosity and the love of learning.
What curriculum do you use?
Our curriculum varies per grade and is discussed in detail at our New Family Informational Meetings and upon enrollment.
